A short note on European Space Agency

The European Space Agency (ESA), time-honored in 1975, is an inter-governmental organization committed to exploration of space with currently 16 member states. It has its headquarters are in Paris, France. The ESA has a staff (not including sub-contractors and national space agencies) of about 1,900 with a financial plan of 3 billion euros in 2005.
The ESA's spaceport is the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana, and a site selected because it is near to the equator from which commercially essential orbits are easier to access. During the period of Ariane 4 ESA gained the place of market leader in commercial space launches and in current years ESA has time-honored itself as the major competitor of NASA in space exploration.
